Israeli airstrikes in the West Bank’s Nur Shams refugee camp resulted in the deaths of two Palestinians on Thursday, including a child, according to a report from the Palestinian health ministry. The clashes come as Israeli forces intensify operations in the region, with the army describing its mission as an effort to dismantle “terrorist infrastructure” in the densely populated refugee camp.
In addition to the strikes in Nur Shams, the Palestinian health ministry reported another fatality in the Tulkarm refugee camp, where a Palestinian man was shot and killed by Israeli forces overnight.
The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported a significant presence of Israeli vehicles, including heavy military bulldozers, which stormed the city and moved toward the Nur Shams camp as part of the ongoing operation. Tensions intensified when Al Quds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, announced that it had detonated an explosive device targeting an Israeli military bulldozer in an attempt to block the army’s advance.
