India and Pakistan Agree to Immediate Ceasefire Following US-Led Talks

India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire following US-led mediation, announced by US President Trump

The President of the United States, Donald Trump, announced on Saturday that India and Pakistan have agreed to a complete and immediate ceasefire, following mediation efforts led by the United States.

Trump wrote in his social media X account that “After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE. Congratulations to both countries on using common sense and great intelligence. Thank you for your attention to this matter.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also welcomed the agreement between India and Pakistan to implement an immediate ceasefire and initiate dialogue on a broad range of issues at a neutral location.

“In the past 48 hours, Vice President J.D. Vance and I have been in close communication with senior officials from both countries, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval ” Rubio said in a statement posted on X.

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister announced on Saturday that Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire.

“Pakistan has consistently pursued peace and stability in the region without compromising its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said.

Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar also confirmed the development in a post on X, stating, “India and Pakistan have reached an understanding to halt firing and military action effective today.”

Pakistan’s Foreign Office stated on Saturday that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan spoke by phone with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to discuss the recent escalation between Pakistan and India.

According to the statement, Dar briefed the Saudi minister on the regional situation and Pakistan’s response following Indian airstrikes the previous night.

A day earlier, Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir had held separate meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Ishaq Dar during a one-day visit to Islamabad.
