Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each scored a goal and combined for five assists as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Nashville Predators 4-1 on Saturday for their 16th consecutive win to move within one of the NHL record.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman had the other Oilers goals, while Stuart Skinner, making his first career start against Nashville, made 28 saves for his franchise-record 12th straight victory.
Colton Sissons scored for Nashville and Kevin Lankinen stopped 17 shots. Nashville has dropped two of three games against the Oilers this season and three of four overall.
Pittsburgh holds the NHL record with a 17-game winning streak in 1992-93 while Columbus also had a 16-game win streak in 2016-17.
Maple Leafs 4, Jets 2
John Tavares scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period and visiting Toronto went on to defeat Winnipeg.
Auston Matthews scored his 40th goal for his 600th career point, while Ryan Reaves and Simon Benoit also scored for the Maple Leafs. Morgan Rielly added two assists and Ilya Samsonov stopped 24 shots in the win.
Dylan Samberg and Mason Appleton scored for the Jets while Connor Hellebuyck made 26 saves. The teams completed a home-and-home series. The
Maple Leafs won 1-0 in overtime Wednesday in Toronto.
Bruins 6, Flyers 2
David Pastrnak had two goals and one assist, James van Riemsdyk added one goal and one assist and Boston handily defeated host Philadelphia.
Charlie McAvoy also contributed one goal and one assist, Danton Heinen and Charlie Coyle each scored and Pavel Zacha had two assists for the Bruins, who have won seven of eight.
Tyson Foerster scored two goals for the Flyers, who have lost five straight.
Stars 5, Capitals 4 (OT)
Thomas Harley scored his second goal of the game at 3:27 of overtime and Dallas defeated visiting Washington for its third straight win.
It was Harley’s second overtime winner in the past two games and came after Washington scored twice in the final two minutes of the third period to force the extra session.
Alex Ovechkin had a goal and an assist for the Capitals, who finished 0-3-1 on their road trip and are 1-6-1 on the road since Christmas.
Penguins 3, Canadiens 2 (OT)
Marcus Pettersson’s goal at 2:43 of overtime gave Pittsburgh a win over visiting Montreal.
On a two-on-one with Rickard Rakell, and Montreal’s Nick Suzuki defending, Pettersson scored from the right circle on a lofted shot to the short side. Pettersson also had an assist. Lars Eller, who was playing in his 1,000th game, and Jake Guentzel scored in regulation, and Rakell had two assists for the Penguins, who snapped a three-game losing streak (0-2-1). Pittsburgh goaltender Tristan Jarry made 25 saves to improve to 5-1-1 in his career against Montreal.
Kaiden Guhle and Juraj Slafkovsky scored for the Canadiens, who have lost four of five (1-3-1).
Rangers 7, Senators 2
Artemi Panarin had a goal and two assists and visiting New York scored five straight goals in the second period to come from behind for a win against Ottawa.
Zac Jones, Chris Kreider, Jonny Brodzinski and Alexis Lafreniere each had a goal and an assist, Mika Zibanejad had two assists and Jonathan Quick made 29 saves for the Rangers, who had lost two straight and four of five.
Brady Tkachuk and Jakob Chychrun scored and Joonas Korpisalo stopped 13 of 17 shots before he was replaced by Mads Sogaard. He made nine saves for the Senators, who came in riding a season-high five-game point streak (3-0-2).
Hurricanes 3, Coyotes 1
Dmitry Orlov scored the tiebreaking goal with 36 seconds remaining in regulation as Carolina earned a victory over Arizona in Raleigh, N.C.
Carolina will go into the All-Star break on a three-game winning streak. Stymied by Coyotes goaltender Connor Ingram (36 saves) most of the night, the Hurricanes had an unlikely hero in Orlov, who scored his third goal of the season. Amid a 14-3-4 stretch, the Hurricanes added some insurance 13 seconds later when Jesper Fast was credited with his fifth goal of the campaign through some net-front congestion.
Martin Necas tied the game in the second period with his 13th goal for Carolina, which outshot the Coyotes 39-11.
Lightning 6, Devils 3
Brandon Hagel and Brayden Point scored two goals apiece, defenseman Victor Hedman achieved an offensive milestone, and Tampa Bay beat New Jersey for its seventh straight home win.
The 2018 Norris Trophy winner, Hedman posted two second-period assists and another in the third that boosted him to 702 career points, becoming the 29th NHL defenseman to hit the 700-point plateau. Steven Stamkos and Nicholas Paul each had a goal and an assist and goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy registered 21 saves in his 16th win.
New Jersey, which fell to 3-6-1 in its past 10 matches, got a goal and an assist from Ondrej Palat. Jesper Bratt and Tyler Toffoli scored. Netminder Vitek Vanecek stopped 36 of 40 shots.
Red Wings 5, Golden Knights 2
Dylan Larkin scored two goals – including the 200th of his career – and Alex Lyon made 28 saves to lead Detroit to a victory over visiting Vegas.
Jake Walman, Joe Veleno and Andrew Copp also scored for Detroit, which improved to 9-2-1 in its past 12 games. Moritz Seider and Lucas Raymond each added two assists.
Ivan Barbashev and Paul Cotter scored and Alec Martinez had two assists for Vegas, which had its six-game point streak (5-0-1) come to an end. Logan Thompson stopped 24 of 28 shots for the Golden Knights, who don’t play again until Feb. 6 in Las Vegas when they try to snap Edmonton’s 16-game winning streak.

Jacob Markstrom recorded his second shutout of the season and Calgary snapped a four-game skid with a victory over visiting Chicago.
Elias Lindholm scored the lone goal for the Flames, who won their final game before All-Star break. Markstrom made 32 saves — 12 in the third period — to post his 20th career shutout.
Goaltender Petr Mrazek stopped 30 shots for the Blackhawks, who have lost four straight games overall and are now winless in 20 road tilts (0-19-1). Chicago has been shut out in two consecutive games and in three of their past four outings.
Sabers 5, Sharks 2
JJ Peterka scored twice to help visiting Buffalo rally from a two-goal deficit for a second straight game to beat San Jose.
Dylan Cozens had a goal and two assists and Casey Mittelstadt had two assists for the Sabres, who also trailed by two in a 5-3 win against the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday and are 7-4-0 in their past 11 games. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 23 saves in the win.
Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Jan Rutta scored, William Eklund had two assists, and Kaapo Kahkonen made 31 saves for the Sharks, who had their three-game winning streak snapped.
Ducks 3, Wild 2
Troy Terry scored twice, including the go-ahead goal 11:40 into the third period, and Anaheim held on for a win over Minnesota in Saint Paul, Minn.
Ryan Strome also scored for Anaheim, which earned at least one point for the third straight game. Adam Henrique finished with a pair of assists. Ducks goaltender Lukas Dostal stopped 35 of 37 shots to earn the victory.
Kirill Kaprizov and Jon Merrill scored one goal apiece for Minnesota, which has lost two straight. Mats Zuccarello contributed two assists.
Panthers 3, Islanders 2 (OT)
Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored with 3:03 left in overtime and Sam Reinhart posted his league-leading 20th power-play tally, leading Florida to a victory over New York at Elmont, N.Y.
The Islanders pulled their goalie for an extra attacker in the final two minutes and it worked as Kyle Palmieri tied the score at 2-2 with 1:29 left. That sent the game to overtime, where Evan Rodrigues got the primary assist on a two-on-one rush. Matthew Tkachuk had a goal and an assist as the Panthers, who have won four in a row, also extended their franchise-record road winning streak to eight. Backup goalie Anthony Stolarz earned the victory, making 21 saves, and also assisted on the game-winning goal.
Simon Holmstrom scored the first goal for the Islanders, who got 34 saves from Semyon Varlamov.
Canucks 5, Blue Jackets 4 (OT)
Brock Boeser had a hat trick and set up the winning goal in overtime as Vancouver rallied to beat visiting Columbus in its final game before the All-Star break.
Elias Pettersson scored twice, including the winner for the Canucks, who closed out a five-game homestand in style by rallying from a three-goal deficit by scoring three unanswered power-play goals to open the third period. J.T. Miller and Quinn Hughes each collected three assists as Vancouver extended its points streak to 11 games (9-0-2). Pettersson’s winner came with 59 seconds left in overtime as Boeser’s backhand pass across the crease deflected in off the Swedish forward’s skate.
Alexandre Texier, Sean Kuraly, Jake Bean and Kirill Marchenko scored for Columbus, which has two more games on its five-game road trip before the break.
