There is a movement afoot among auto-makers to exclude AM receivers from their new model vehicles. It starts with electric vehicles (EVs) but plans also include gas-powered cars. There are various rationales for this, but none of them is insurmountable. The truth is automakers want to eliminate FREE over-the-air radio in their new vehicles and likely force consumers to pay for audio service on a subscription basis.

Today it’s AM Radio but FM will be next. You can imagine how such a move could inhibit the ministry of WCTS since many people listen in their cars.

Congress is involved, arguing that AM Radio is an essential community service, and proposing a law to keep FREE radio in the auto dashboard. The recently released National Association of Broadcasters publication, “AM Radio is Vital to Ensuring Public Safety” is attached for your download and information.
